Antique pewter charger measuring approximately 14¾ inches in diameter, bearing Tudor rose and crown hallmarks along with an unusual “LQNDON” mark, as shown in the photographs. The maker is presently unidentified.
The charger is in good antique condition, retaining an attractive, naturally aged pewter patina. There are some minor surface marks consistent with age and use. It is from the 1700\'s, after all.
A handsome and substantial early-style pewter charger with appealing surface character and intriguing hallmarks.
Beyond its historical interest as a surviving piece of 18th-century pewter, this is also a wonderfully decorative object. Its generous scale, softly aged surface, and simple form would make a striking addition to a dining room, kitchen, or living space—displayed on a table, sideboard, mantel, or hung as part of a collection of antique plates and chargers.
A beautiful piece that combines genuine historical character with a timeless decorative quality, and one that can be appreciated equally as an antique and as an object in a contemporary home.
