DESCRIPTION:
Original May 24, 1892 illustrated business letterhead from The National Saw Co., Cincinnati, Ohio. The ornate engraved-style heading states the company was established 1854 and identifies it as manufacturers of saws, hand saws, trowels, cane knives, etc. The address is given as Corner Sixth & Baymiller Streets, opposite the C.H. & D. R.R. Depot.
Typed to Mr. Wm. K. Hampton of Poplar Flat, Kentucky, the letter discusses the purchase and trade-in of large circular saws. National Saw states that it has no secondhand saws available but offers a fully warranted 56-inch circular saw for $58.25 or a 58-inch saw for $65.75, with approximately $10 allowed for Hampton's old saw.
A particularly attractive piece of late-19th-century industrial advertising ephemera with a highly decorative saw-manufacturing letterhead and excellent content relating directly to the company's products and pricing.
