VINTAGE ITALIAN SORRENTO MARQUETRY INLAID WOOD MUSIC BOX W/ SWISS MADE REUGE MOVEMENTS
DESIGN FEATURES: This box showcases intricate acanthus leaves, scrollwork, and contrasting dark and light wood veneers. It features a prominent raised diamond shaped medallion which functions as a "hidden slide lock" mechanism. AKA Italian puzzle boxes, instead of a key used to unlock the box, the sliding latch / friction latch can be moved to lock or unlock the box.
APPROX. MEASUREMENTS: 2.75" HIGH x 5" WIDE x 6 1/4" LONG
FUNCTIONALITY: (SEE VIDEO) Mechanisms are functioning and music does play.
MARKINGS: (SEE PHOTOS) There is a Light Blue MADE IN ITALY label with 3 dots which define music duration. Internal movements are Swiss made and have REUGE STE-CROIX SWITZERLAND markings.
COSMETICS: (SEE PHOTOS) Box seems tight and sturdy. Deisgn work shows signs of age and "cracking" throughout. May be normal wear and tear marks, scratches, etc as expected from an older piece. Velvet has nice color and intact. Please look at all pictures well to make sure you are ok with cosmetics before purchase.
