For sale is a matching pair of vintage Chinese hand-carved solid wood turtle figurines with traditional relief symbols. One figurine features the character Fu representing good fortune and blessings while the companion piece features Shou representing long life and longevity. They are carved from solid wood blocks showing natural grain and distinct hand-chiseled faceting along the necks. They are finished in a rich reddish-brown lacquer stain that creates a wonderful contrast in the grooved details.
Each turtle measures 8.5 inches long by 5.75 inches wide by 1.75 inches high. One figurine weighs 8.9 ounces and the other weighs 9.4 ounces for a solid wood build.
Overall the pair is in nice clean vintage shape with beautiful color and shine. The set shows only a few minor spots of light loss, superficial surface wear and natural edge rub consistent with age and gentle handling. The undersides feature standard factory join lines from early production steps where the wood blocks were bonded together before carving. Please review all photos to verify the exact condition. Items will be securely packed and shipped promptly.
