Up for sale is a fantastic piece of World War II Pacific Theater history. This is an original, authentic paper map prominently marked "SECRET" at both the top and bottom.
Produced in March 1945 for CINCPAC-CINCPOA (Commander in Chief, Pacific Fleet / Commander in Chief, Pacific Ocean Areas) by the 30th Engineer Base Topographic Battalion (USAFCPBC), this map (Drawing No. 1307-A) illustrates the flight and naval distances from newly captured Iwo Jima to the Japanese Home Islands.
The map centers its distance rings squarely on Iwo Jima, radiating outward in 50-mile increments up to 600 miles, terminating at the southern coast of Honshu (Japan), right by the Tokyo Bay - Authentic World War II artifact. Shows expected signs of age and field use, including a prominent central fold, minor edge wear/tearing, and some light creasing. The paper has slight discoloration, but all printed grid lines, text, and island labels remain bold and highly legible. The reverse side is blank. This is an exceptional, specialized military chart that would be a standout addition to any WWII, USAAF, or Pacific Theater Context: March 1945 was the pivotal month the US secured Iwo Jima. The island's capture was strategically vital so that USAAF P-51 Mustangs could escort B-29 Superfortresses on their bombing runs to Tokyo, and so damaged B-29s had an emergency landing strip. Because of the specific distance rings and headings, this map was likely used for flight navigation, radar plotting, or air-sea rescue operations directly supporting those final bombing campaigns on mainland WITH CONFIDENCE- I have a no-questions asked satisfaction guarantee.
