Antique German salt-glazed stoneware beer stein, attributed to I.H. Krebs of Vallendar/Höhr, dating to approximately the 1880s. The stein features unusually detailed molded relief decoration with three historical/religious scenes. The central panel depicting St. Peter presenting or holding a model of Cologne Cathedral, while another panel corresponds with documented Krebs imagery of the Three Magi following the star. The figures are framed by Gothic architectural motifs with cobalt-blue and gray decoration. The piece retains its original-style pewter lid and period hinge assembly. Specialist stein references document a Krebs example with the same Cologne Cathedral / Three Magi subject matter, and Krebs is known for 19th-century molded Westerwaldstoneware. The factory operated during the period when this type of historicist relief stein was produced.Very good antique condition. Normal surface wear, minor glaze irregularities and age-related marks are present. Pewter lid and hinge show expected oxidation/patina. No major cracks or large chips. See photos as they are part of the description.
