Springerle model 1 motifs around 1860 particularly rare choice of motif: paw cherry 8 x 5.5 x 2.3 cm
Provenance Bakery Gauss in Bretten• Age: Circa 1860 (mid to second half 19th century).• Condition: Very well preserved, collectible original condition. The wood shows an excellent, historically grown age patina. The carving (negative relief) is deep, sharp edges and not dull cleaned. • Theme: animal paw / bear or lion paw. This is an iconographic rarity. While classic animal depictions (birds, rabbits, game) or floral decorations were mass-produced in the 19th century, scattered anatomical details such as a paw can be located in popular belief or guild context (e.g. B. as a symbol of strength, hunter customs, crest elements or even as pharmacy/cure symbolism).
