    similar but NOT OEM design internally

    This gas tank externally is identical to the OEM design and is nicely coated with what appears to be an epoxy coating such as POR15. The interior is significantly different in the way the fuel pump sump is designed and how the tank is baffled. The OEM design used bottom to top baffles around the sump area with small gaps at the bottom to allow gas to flow to the pump regardless of how little gas remained in the tank whereas the Dorman uses a short walled contained area that is fed from a tube at its bottom once the fuel level in the tank falls below the height of the containment area wall. There are NO other baffles in the tank compared to the OEM tank which had extensive internally baffling to minimize sloshing of the gas and the associated noise (this tank was used in HIGH end GM ...
