Rare 19th Century Cast Iron Figural Match Holder / Strike by E.G Zimmerman of Hanau, Germany circa 1845-1870. Features a gentleman with hands in pocket, originally had a pipe in mouth, since broken off, with removable hat (originally hinged but now detached). The match holder/striker is hollowed for holding matches and has cross-hatched lines at the circumference of the base for striking the match. Base is impressed Zimmermann of Hanau. Measures 4 ½” high x 2 1/8" diameter at base and is in overall Excellent condition except for the two losses mentioned above (missing pipe and hinged hat). A fine addition to any home or collection!
