The 3 astronauts on that mission each had one of these special cars andBean's is the only none survivor.Danny Reed of Texas restored it and had us restore the intake. Google the car.The first6 pics are of this manifold the others are not, they just show whatcan happen when restoring one. This one is a beautifulintake for your1971 or 72LT1Corvette or Camaro casting number 3959594.You wanta manifoldthat you won't have problems with you found it. Comes with a new set of mounting bolts,carb studs, heater hose fitting and choke thermostat,you will need the cover sold by most Corvetteparts dealers. $6.Finish is real nice and not scratched or dinged up. Show quality. No cracks or welded ears. Water areas excellent. All threads are perfect. One of the most important things arethose tapered pipe threads in the water jacket as thereis no easy wayto repair them. No you can't use a helicoil. We have posted a couple of pic of issuesthat people will come up against when trying to restore one of these. See those fittings and plugs, "although different yr manifolds"you will neverunscrew these safely as the alum threads will come out or gall up and crack the manifold. Thoseiron plugs will break off. How would you get that broken off plug out. I doubt youwould without damage to the alum threads. The issues shown are not of this manifold.You can heat them, soak them, it won't matter as they expand when they rust. We have a way to get them out without damage to the alum. There are2 pics of a 1969 Camaro manifold sent to us for repair,he tried to unscrew the hose fitting and damaged the manifold.Next pic shows it repaired. You haveone that needs restoration be happy to do it for you. We always remove the shield for cleaning and inspection and reinstall it with new rivets. There isalso apic of a manifold that was in for restorationwhere the heatchamber hadrotted through. It couldn't be seen with theshield on. What if you had installed that on your eng, you would be pullingthe engapartand never find why it was smoking and blowing oil.
