• The map opens to a generous23\" x 31\"and has greatdetail on old street and highway alignments, with cartography by theDolph Map Company of Fort Lauderdale.
• It was distributed by the Montgomery News Company, 874Martha Street,during a period of civil unrest and protests on featured are the proposed routes of twointerstate highwaysthat would slice through the city: I-65 and I-85. Theconstruction of these highways disrupted many downtown neighborhoods,contributing to additional unrest and protests during the mid-1960s.
• Fifty-eight years after this map was printed, theMontgomery City Council revised the wording on its Official Seal toinclude the phrase \"Birthplaceof the Civil Rights Movement.\"
• On the reverse side of the Montgomery map there\'s astreet index and mapsof Wetumpka, Prattville, and Selma, where in 1965 a civil rightsdemonstration ended in violence when marchers were attacked and beatenin what has become known as \"Bloody Sunday.\"
